For the first year ever, Pantone has announced that there will be TWO colors of the year - Rose Quartz and Serenity. I have to admit, I'm not too fond of the color combination. (Is anyone else reminded of the Heart Family dolls from the 80s? Or am I just aging myself?) Since the color of the year usually has a big impact on wedding trends, though, I decided to split them apart and create two very different styleboards. First up is Rose Quartz.
Rose Quartz is super feminine. Most design elements it calls to mind are soft, frilly, and sugary sweet. I wanted to elevate it to something chic and modern, something that would look more appropriate in an art gallery than a country club. The structured Astrid bridal gown from Elizabeth Stuart alongside J. Crew Mae dresses for the maids sets the overall tone. A simple stationery suite and monochrome, mono-flower pave centerpieces keep the pink from being too girly. A raw rose quartz engagement ring is the perfect finishing touch.
What do you think of Rose Quartz and the 2016 Pantone color forecast? I'll have my vision for a Serenity inspired wedding in my next post.
